On December 11th, 1946, the United Nations laid the foundation for the children's organization UNICEF.
The international community rallied to provide food, medicine, and clothing to those in need.
While the world continues to face numerous challenges, including conflict, poverty, and inequality, UNICEF works to ensure that every child — regardless of where they are born — has the chance to grow up in a safe, healthy, and supportive environment.
UNICEF’s work remains more crucial than ever.
The importance of UNICEF lies not just in its capacity to deliver immediate aid in times of crisis, but in its ongoing commitment to creating lasting change for children worldwide.
Organisation’s mission is a reminder that many children live in conditions where even the most basic human needs - water, food, medical care, and education - are beyond reach.
UNICEF’s work allows children, especially those in the world’s poorest regions, to unlock their potential and shape their own futures.
In 2023, the organization helped over 210 million children access quality education, including providing learning materials and remote learning solutions in conflict zones.
Additionally, it improved access to clean water for millions of children, reducing waterborne diseases, and provided emergency aid, including child protection, to children affected by crises, such as those displaced by conflicts in Syria, Ukraine, and Sudan.
Through these vital efforts, UNICEF continues to ensure children receive the care and support they need for a healthier, safer, and more secure future.
“While many of us are preoccupied with our daily lives, it’s essential to look beyond our immediate surroundings,” says Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff.
There are millions of children whose lives are marked by hardship and suffering - challenges that many of us could never imagine. “The plight of these girls and boys cannot be ignored,” she adds.
Ann-Kathrin-Linsenhoff-Foundation for UNICEF, is working tirelessly to give children the right to life, health, and education - especially focusing on the empowerment of girls and young women, who often face even greater obstacles.
One of the most touching symbols of Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff’s commitment to UNICEF is her beloved horse, Sterntaler, or “Sterni”, who has sadly passed away in November this year.
Together, they achieved great success on the international equestrian stage, including a team gold medal at the 2005 European Championships in Hagen.
That same year, Sterntaler, a ten-year-old Oldenburg, was honored with the addition of “UNICEF” to his name, a symbol of his role as a four-legged ambassador for the organization.
This gesture not only celebrated Sterntaler’s sporting achievements but also highlighted Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff’s deep commitment to UNICEF’s mission.
The Linsenhoff Foundations and UNICEF, has made significant strides in helping children, particularly girls, overcome barriers to education, because as Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff said after her trip to Nepal “you educate a girl and she will pass her knwoledge to the whole new generation.”
By creating pathways for a brighter future, the foundation is helping to build a generation of young people who will drive change in their communities and beyond.
In the past year, the Linsenhoff Foundation has contributed to various programs focused on improving girls' access to education and healthcare, with a special emphasis on empowering young women to become leaders in their own right.
“I want to give back some of the happiness I've had in my life to children who otherwise have no chance!” highlights Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff.
There is still much work to be done. Every contribution - no matter how big or small - helps UNICEF continue its critical work in providing a brighter future for children in need.
Together, we can create lasting change.
By contributing to UNICEF’s programs, we can help ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow up in a world where their rights are protected, their voices are heard, and their dreams are possible.
Yours
sincerely
